Frequently Asked Questions

I want to create a sub zone off a main listening zone. Is this possible?

Yes, it is possible to create a sub-zone from a main listening zone. For the time being, you will need to use a good-quality impedance matching volume control, and you should pre wire for the future release of our ZON sub zone controller. Here's how you do it:

1. Connect the pair of loudspeakers for the main zone to the ZAC-60's loudspeaker connection. We recommend that you use 8 ohm loudspeakers.

2. From the pair of loudspeakers in the main zone, make a parallel connection to the impedance matching volume control in the sub zone.

3. Connect the sub zone's loudspeakers to the impedance matching volume control. We suggest that you use 8 ohm loudspeakers in the sub zone as well. Making a parallel connection from the main zone to the sub zone will keep the overall resistance to around 4 ohms, which is within the amplifier's operating range.

4. Run a piece of CAT-5e or CAT-6 between the impedance matching volume control and the ZAC-60. When the ZON sub zone controller is released, you will be able to easily retrofit the new device.

You should read the installation instructions for the impedance matching volume control to make sure that you configure the device properly for the loudspeaker connections you have made.
