Frequently Asked Questions
Can I use RS-232 commands to control my devices?
You can, if your device is made to accept RS-232 commands for it's control. The ZIR-232 can be programmed to use RS-232 commands in lieu of, or in addition to, specific IR keys. If you have, for example, a CD jukebox that can be controlled via serial, you would connect the CD jukebox to a ZIM-4 input module and connect the RS-232 output of the ZIR-232 to the serial port on the CD jukebox.
Programming transport controls for the serial device is a function of the ZIR-232's script editor. Consult the ZIR-232 User's Guide for instructions on how to do this. You can download the User's guide from the "downloads" section of the ZON website.
