ZON Goes to the "Extreme"

ABC hit show "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" May season finale to feature ZON audio products.

Birmingham, AL – Oxmoor Corporation, a world leader in the development of high performance audio products, announced today that its award-winning ZON whole house digital audio system was installed in the "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" project that will air on May 22.

The show, which builds dream homes for families touched by personal tragedy, will feature the parents and children of the late Lori Piestewa, the first Native American woman to die in the war in Iraq. They will get a new 4,300 square-foot home inspired by their Hopi Indian culture and built by hundreds of volunteers.

The home's audio system design includes audio source inputs in the master bath, kitchen, main hallway, library, dining room, kid's media room, guest casitas, patio and courtyard. The show's designers were pleased with the flexibility of the ZON system, especially because they could include the audio from the cable boxes, disc players and gaming consoles into the whole house system.

The ZON paging feature was very helpful during the furnishing and decorating phase of the project, allowing the show's designers to easily communicate with their teams throughout the home.

"We are honored to provide our products for such an outstanding cause," said Joe Bennett, vice president of marketing for Oxmoor, who directed the ZON portion of the project in Arizona. "We were truly inspired by the story of the Piestewa family and are honored to have been chosen to participate in the Extreme Makeover project. This was a great experience for us and we hope they will derive many years of pleasure from their ZON Audio system."

Lori Piestewa left behind her parents and two children, ages 5 and 6, who live in a mobile home in the Navajo community of Tuba City.

"Dodging hundreds of volunteers and working against the clock was no easy task, but our experienced integrator did a fine job. This family is in for a real treat," Bennett said.

The episode will air on May 22, with the follow-up program "How'd They Do That" airing the following night.
